I have set myself a huge task for this year.
To stop ignoring this blog!
That’s just one of my plans for 2017. I have others, I promise I’m not that self-indulgent. The blog has been bugging me though, what is it? No. Really. I didn’t know so I googled it and now I want to have fun with it. I will write about the things that matter to me and therefore allow you a tiny insight into the workings and ramblings of my brain and life.
To be honest, I have only been ignoring the blog because I’m super aware of the fact that writing about my writing bores me stiff, and I would hazard an extremely intelligent guess that it bores you too.
Writing is something I do, it’s not something that I am. I am a writer, that’s true, but I’m also a clueless parent..
My sister used to describe my child as the internet baby, if I didn’t know what to do, I googled it to death and then promptly fell asleep. What? Don’t judge. Parenting is extremely tiring. I pride myself on the fact that my daughter is now a delightful eight years old and able to participate in this amazing journey of raising the child.
Eight years on, I’m still clueless but I do actually quite like my daughter, she’s super kind, extremely funny and just a little wacky, she embraces the alternative, loves animals and is far too many wonderful things for me to write here. You’ll get to meet her over the coming days, months and years. Well. If I stick to my plans for 2017.
I am also easily distracted and tend to digress. Now, where was I?
Ah yes… the purpose of the blog.
What can you expect?
What will I be writing about? I’ve made a loose plan about the topics of conversation, even if I am only talking to myself for the most part. I will open the comments box (argh!) and would love to see if a real live person is actually reading my ramblings with pictures.
- Pugs are People
I have two so I can happily confirm that my snoring, lazy, hungry, naughty delights are indeed people in disguise. You’ll meet these guys. If they do something funny, which is pretty much most of the time they are not asleep. I’ll post.
- Reading at School Rocks
I would love to see teachers reading to their primary pupils and I will on occasion introduce this soap box and I’ve got plans here too.
- Poetry Pencil
I’m a poet first and foremost. Took me ages to admit that I actually write in rhyme because I just cannot help myself. I’m not one of these high brow, posh and proper types, just normal rhyme. I also have plans here for the kids too.
- Parenting Poops
Yup. I try hard. I really do but I’m one of those parents who shouts ‘get off that pad!’ and then doesn’t know what to do with my curious creature. So we read, cop out huh? Still, if I fluff up again – I’ll post.
- Kids Need Creativity
I’m not too sure about this one yet. Popped into my head and I’m a little bit ticked off that our schools don’t spend an equal amount of time dedicated to the arts as they do spelling bee. I have a feeling this will grow but it’s not a school bash session. Teachers have it tough but the government…. now those guys need to sort their stuff out! Ok – off your soapbox girl. Another time…
- Cats are Cool Bananas
I have three – erm… I like cats. A lot. These terrorists are wrecking my carpets and chairs but they are super cute on occasion. Again, any funny tales.. (tails… get it? Okay, never mind) I’ll post.
- Magic, Myths and Merlin
This is the world in which I live. I love it. Just me and my mate Merlin! I’m not sure what I’ll post but you can be sure it won’t be of this world. We’ll see….
Okay, so that’s it. Hopefully, the topics alone will give you a flavour of what’s to come in 2017. Oh, and it’s okay I have the attention span of a teensy, weeny tiny gnat so all posts will be easy to read and visual.
I hope you stick around.. Post below if you have any questions? Right, I’m off. My unicorn awaits.
